They came...
The biggest names in world swimming have passed through Canet-en-Roussillon.
Over the years, many of the world's leading swimmers have taken part in the Mare Nostrum International Swimming Meeting, including Michael PHELPS, Ian THORPE, Camille LACOURT, Laure and Florent MANAUDOU and Sarah SJÖSTRÖM, to name but a few.
The Canet-en-Roussillon swimming club is recognized as one of the best swimming clubs in France, adding a special dimension to the competition, and has seen the emergence of young talents such as Analia PIGRÉÉ, Pauline MAHIEU and Marina JEHL, who are now aiming for the Olympic Games.
All eyes are now on these three swimmers from the Canet 66 Natation club. In June, they will take part in the qualifiers for the Olympic Games.
Born in 2001, Analia PIGRÉ holds the French records for the 50 m backstroke in large and small pools.
As for Pauline MAHIEU, she has won several medals and since 2023 has held the French record for the 100 m backstroke, previously held by Laure MANAUDOU.
As for Marina JEHL, after an injury that slowed her progress last year, she has big ambitions for 2024. A sprinter, she excels in the 100m and 200m freestyle.
