VIEUX GREEMENTS CANET EN ROUSSILLON

Along the Quai Florence Arthaud are grouped the Vieux Gréements. The aim of the Association des Vieux Gréements de Canet en Roussillon is to bring together owners of old and historic boats, to keep them in good condition and keep them sailing, with a view to safeguarding culture and promoting maritime heritage. Created in the 80s, the association has grown with the port of Canet en Roussillon, and in 2014 boasted 44 boats. Based on the Florence Arthaud quay, the association presents a wide range of vintage boats: sloops, ketches, cutters, yawls and schooners. At the end of the pontoon, you'll find Latin barques, fishermen's barques and Catalan barques, Algerian or Oranese square-ended longliners, Sétoise, and a Breton misainier. You can see these old rigs at the initiative of the Association des Vieux Gréements, which takes part in all the nautical events in the port of Canet en Roussillon.

SAINT JACQUES CHURCH

Work began in 1346 and continued until the end of the current century. The church was completed in the early 15th century. In 1408, painter François Ferrer claimed payment for an altarpiece he had painted, probably that of Saint-Jacques. In passing, let us note a few donations made to this church: 1417: Pierre Garreiat, rector, bequeaths a missal, a silver chalice and an alb to the altar of Blessed Mary Magdalene. 1418: Pierre Terrena, priest of Saint-Jean de Perpignan, donates a silver reliquary weighing "6 marchs".
