An immersive journey into the origins of Christmas.
The exhibition "Canet Odyssée Enchantée", created for the Galerie des Hospices de Canet-en-Roussillon by the association Hanging Plants, is based on the theme of the imaginary Christmas through the "images d'Epinal" that this traditional holiday can evoke.
On the one hand, popular belief has it that Santa Claus comes from the village of Rovaniemi in Lapland, in the far north of Finland.
Several days before Christmas, the towns and villages of France take on a festive air. The facades of town halls are decorated, huge fir trees are erected in the main squares, main streets and trees are covered in lights, and parties are organized for children.
Most families put up their Christmas tree in December.
Christmas Eve is a time for the whole family to get together and enjoy a hearty meal. According to family traditions, Santa Claus comes to drop off the presents on Christmas Eve or during the night, and the children discover them on Christmas morning at the foot of the tree.
THE IMAGINARY CHRISTMAS THROUGH CINEMA

For the first Friday of the merry December festivities, we invite you to gently enter into the Christmas spirit with two movie-themed events. From amusing dubbings to the great masterpieces of the 7th art, come and settle into our seats with a warm blanket over your legs, and enjoy as if you were at home!

- "Special Christmas film dubbing with Cie à l'Improviste (improvisational theater) - 45 min.
- "Cut! We do it again, but without the sound, with actors improvising dialogue and sound effects. Let's go, motor! Here, popular works of cinema are transformed and given a new look. Audiences will never look at their classics in the same way again...".
* The Compagnie A l'Improviste is a troupe of eccentric actors who practice the high-risk discipline of theatrical improvisation, inventing and performing live sketches in front of witnesses. They take on all the roles: scriptwriters, directors, props men, set designers... and actors. Improvisation is an interactive format, since the audience is asked to contribute a theme, an acting constraint, an emotion, a style...
At 8:30pm Enjoy the stars at the open-air cinema with the Christmas film "Pôle Express" by Robert Zemeckis
A young boy who begins to doubt the existence of Santa Claus boards a mysterious train bound for the North Pole. As the Pole Express plunges deeper into enchanted lands, adventure beckons, and the young passengers realize the extent of their gifts.

What could be better than a high-energy live concert punctuated by aerial choreography to blow your mind?
On the program:
7pm: Live concert by Garam Masada Trio, accompanied by the Hanging Plants company, with aerial acrobatic interludes.
* Garam Masada Trio: Come and enjoy pop, funk, soul and jazz standards revisited in this captivating experience combining lively folk rhythms and musical virtuosity.
* The Compagnie Hanging Plants is a multi-disciplinary group that brings together a wide range of artists and offers multiple artistic projects based on a narrative reflection on the body, music and movement.
For the occasion, our aerial acrobats will punctuate Garam Masada's concert with poetic passages of hooping and aerial silks, giving spectators of all ages a magical interlude.
LONG LIVE THE VACATIONS!

- Christmas-themed improvisational theater with Cie à l'Improviste.
- "La Machine Kiçétou": Four scientists, the best in the world (so they say), are here to test their brand-new prototype creative machine using Generative Artificial Intelligence. A device capable of answering all the questions children ask: The Kiçétou Machine. Thanks to a microchip inserted in their brains and linked via Bluetooth to the machine, our 4 mad scientists will play out the answers like avatars in a video game. Don't understand a word? Neither do they. And the machine is in beta version, so... there may be a few glitches!
An interactive, humorous and explosive show for the whole family. - A poetic show of circus and dance with our two acrobats from Duo de la Fenêtre.
IF CHRISTMAS WAS A STORY...

Come and listen to the beautiful stories of Christmas, softly punctuated by live music played by a multi-instrumentalist musician.
A suspended moment for the whole family, seated comfortably in the Galerie des Hospices.

BIG CHRISTMAS PARTY

Bring the whole family to our big Christmas party!
Santa Claus, elves, free face painting, cotton candy, choreographed dance routines, confetti throwing, giant games, inflatables... all the ingredients for a great afternoon.
And from 4pm onwards, the first 300 people will be treated to Xicolatada, a traditional Catalan hot chocolate prepared on site by the Confrérie des Chocolatiers Catalans.
A big outdoor party to which all children and their parents are invited!
